Overseer Olevia Hopson-Brooks
Senior Pastor
Overseer Olevia Hopson Brooks is the Assistant Overseer of Holiness Church of God, INC. She currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Holiness Church of God New Journey in South Bend, Indiana. Affectionately known, as Pastor Olevia, she has a heart for people and a love for the family unit. She is a native of Chicago, Illinois. She is the youngest of six children. At the age of 16, Overseer Olevia received salvation and started her journey with God at the Potter’s House Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Sarah B. Jones.
Overseer Olevia relocated to South Bend, Indiana and joined Holiness Church of God where her journey with God continued. She was taught to value her relationship with God. She has learned to live, serve, and be committed to God is the most prized possession to have in life. Overseer Olevia realized that her relocation was an alignment with God’s plan for her life. It is amazing that the church that was founded by her late grandfather Bishop James R. Hopson Sr. in 1941 is the church God has called her to Pastor today. Overseer Olevia has served in many different capacities in the church all she counts as a part of her spiritual development. She was ordained a Minister in 2006. After the sudden death of Pastor, Betty Hopson-Taylor, she was appointed as Interim Pastor. Wanting to see God’s vision carried out and the people of God stay together she begin to seek God for guidance. Through many uncertainties, she was officially appointed Pastor in October 2010 and then evaluated to Overseer in June 2014.
Overseer Olevia is married to the love of her life Elder David Parker-Brooks, together they have one child Adelia. She graduated from Trine University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Later, she received her master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in Human Resource Management. She currently holds a position in Child Welfare, advocating for abused and neglected children. She is the CEO of Family Matters Outreach Ministries and she has recently launched OHB Ministries where she mentors the family unit. Her favorite saying is “this holy life can be lived”. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
